When this is useful
Choose a safe example page and prepare the extension state before recording. Permissions, installation and the core task are separate stories. A short promotional demo can explain the main task, while a separate tutorial covers setup and consent.
Plan the product story
- Establish the starting page. Make the relevant content visible before opening the extension so viewers understand what the extension will operate on.
- Show the trigger and its result in one connected sequence. Avoid cutting directly from a closed popup to a finished result that leaves the action ambiguous.
- Record a clean browser profile. Remove personal bookmarks, notifications and unrelated extensions. Use only authorised example pages and accounts.
An illustrative workflow
A reading extension can demonstrate selecting a passage, opening its summary panel and saving a note. Keep the source passage visible enough to establish context. Do not imply the extension works on every protected page from this single example.
Limits and checks
Demovela’s current hosted browser flow is not a promise that arbitrary Chrome extensions can be installed or tested. Capture extension footage in an appropriate authorised browser and use a supported editing workflow.
Your next step
Decide whether the audience needs installation help or a feature explanation. Give each job its own short video instead of crowding both into the same opening.
