When this is useful
Choose one metric, time range and segment. Keep those consistent through the sequence unless changing them is the point of the demo. Clearly label synthetic or illustrative data, and avoid zooming so tightly that the date range or metric definition disappears.
Plan the product story
- Establish the reporting context. Show the selected account or dataset, dates and metric label before explaining the result.
- Change one relevant dimension. Demonstrate a filter or breakdown that helps answer the original question, then give the changed chart time to settle.
- Finish with interpretation or export. Explain what a user can inspect next without turning the sample numbers into a general performance promise.
An illustrative workflow
A demo can compare mobile and desktop sessions for a fictional reporting period. The useful product behaviour is switching the segment and inspecting the view. A higher line on one chart does not establish that the product increased traffic.
Limits and checks
Loading states, empty charts and stale filters can look like finished reports in a fast edit. Confirm each screen is ready, and preserve data-quality labels that affect interpretation.
Your next step
Ask a reviewer to name the question and the active reporting period after watching. If either is unclear, restore the missing context before adding more animation.
