Recording fixes / DEMOVELA FIELD GUIDE

Fix text that is too small in a demo video

Improve framing before adding more resolution. Show the part of the interface that proves the point, and check it at the size where people will actually watch.

When this is useful

A full-screen application contains more information than a short video needs. Trying to preserve every menu, toolbar and table column often leaves the important action too small to understand on a phone.

Diagnose and fix the cause

  1. Choose the single region the viewer must read: a status label, result value or action button. Treat everything else as supporting context.
  2. Create a wide establishing shot followed by a closer detail shot. Keep enough surrounding interface to explain where the action occurs, and avoid zooming during the moment the viewer needs to read.
  3. Test the exported video inside its real page or feed-sized mock-up. Ask someone unfamiliar with the task to identify the action and outcome without expanding the player.
MAKE IT CONCRETE

What this looks like in practice

An illustrative invoice demo can first establish the invoice list, then move closer to the selected invoice and its paid status. Keeping twenty irrelevant rows on screen throughout makes the evidence smaller without improving the story.

Limits and checks

Adding a large caption that repeats a tiny field does not always solve the problem: the product evidence may still be impossible to inspect. A close-up should come from source footage with sufficient detail, not an extreme crop of a small recording.

Your next step

Specify a readable region in the shot list for every scene. Review both desktop and mobile exports independently.
