Production workflows / DEMOVELA FIELD GUIDE

Video brand guidelines for software teams

Video brand guidelines turn visual preferences into reusable rules for type, colour, motion, framing, sound and endings. Include examples of failure as well as approved frames.

When this is useful

A logo and colour palette are not enough to keep a video library coherent. Motion timing, headline density and the treatment of product footage can vary widely even when every asset uses the same font.

The working process

  1. Define a readable type hierarchy and a small set of scene layouts. Test long headlines, narrow frames and interface footage with both light and dark backgrounds.
  2. Describe motion behaviour: how elements enter, when the camera moves and when the product stays still for reading. Keep these rules tied to communication rather than decorative effects.
  3. Set rules for audio, captions, logo use and final actions. Store editable source assets and document rights so new variants do not introduce unapproved materials.
MAKE IT CONCRETE

A production example

An illustrative guideline might reserve a dark title scene for the opening, use a quiet neutral frame around product evidence and allow one accent-colour annotation per scene. A mobile variant should preserve that hierarchy while using its own spacing and footage.

Template acceptance notes

Illustrative copy to adapt. Replace bracketed fields and verify every claim against your product.

Limits and checks

Do not hard-code one successful example as the only valid composition. A reusable system needs fallback layouts for unusual product screens and different text lengths.

Your next step

Test the guidelines on three distinct workflows before treating them as a reusable template library.

Examples are illustrative production guidance, not measured customer results. General workflows are not promises of product compatibility. Read our editorial approach and current Demovela scope.
