Product video SEO

A watch page should make the video easy to find, play and understand. Pair the media with accurate text and a stable thumbnail.

The working approach

  1. Give the video a dedicated descriptive page.
  2. Add a summary and relevant transcript.
  3. Keep the file and thumbnail accessible to crawlers.

Make the watch page useful before markup

Put the video prominently on a page whose title and summary describe that particular asset. A visitor should know what will play and why it is relevant. Use a stable poster taken from the actual video, provide controls and reserve the player’s dimensions to avoid a shifting layout. Add a scene summary or accurate transcript so the page still explains the task without requiring playback.

Use metadata to describe what is already visible. Keep the video title, description, thumbnail, duration and file URL consistent between the page and structured data. A dedicated video sitemap can help discovery, but it does not guarantee indexing or a rich result. After publishing, check that the file and thumbnail are accessible without a private workspace cookie. Monitor the actual indexed page rather than assuming that a successful build means search engines have processed it.

A concrete example

A page titled “Postraid mobile product demo” should prominently play that exact demo and describe the actual screens shown.

Before recording this scenario, write down what the starting screen contains and what should be different at the end. This gives the reviewer an observable result to check, rather than asking them to approve a general impression.

The mistake to avoid

Structured data cannot rescue a broken or hidden video.

If the source cannot support the intended message, narrow the claim or capture the missing evidence. A transition, caption or voiceover can explain a real change; it should not manufacture one.

Put it into a production brief

Replace the bracketed fields before using this brief. The scenario is illustrative; keep only the actions your product actually supports.

Review before delivery

  • Evidence: can a new viewer identify the result described in the example without being told where to look?
  • Reading distance: are the relevant controls and labels understandable at the intended placement size?
  • Continuity: does each cut preserve the relationship between the action and its result?
  • Accuracy: does the final caption describe the visible product state, including any limits?

The automatic URL workflow currently supports Postraid and Adfolio. Other product scenarios on this page are production-planning examples, not compatibility claims. Adapt the brief to your own recorder or editor. Demovela preserves originals and creates separate outputs; review the resulting file before publishing.
