When this is useful
A heavily edited recording with baked-in captions and abrupt cuts leaves little room for a new composition. Source footage should preserve the evidence and useful timing handles, while the creative brief explains the desired presentation.
The working process
- Capture a clean task with a settled starting state and a readable result hold. Keep overlays, notifications and unnecessary pointer movement out of the source.
- Provide original-resolution files with a manifest of useful timestamps. Include separate mobile captures where the interface changes, plus approved brand assets and text.
- Explain what can be reframed and what must remain visible. Flag required labels, genuine waiting time and any scene that is conceptual rather than a recorded interaction.
A production example
An illustrative handoff can identify “clip-03, 00:18–00:26: assign a task and show Mira as owner”. The designer can then plan a close-up around a known result instead of searching a long recording for a plausible screen.
Limits and checks
Do not send only a compressed social export when an original exists. If footage is too small or missing an important state, request a recapture before investing in complex motion work.
Your next step
Review one representative designed scene before the full timeline, including a long headline and a narrow-format variation.
