When this is useful
Collect screenshots at consistent scale with readable text. Each should serve a different part of the explanation. A stack of similar dashboard images is weak evidence unless the viewer can identify what changed. Label designs, prototypes and illustrative states so the status of the product stays clear.
Choose the workflow
- Write a caption for each state. Explain what the viewer is looking at and why it belongs in the story. Remove screenshots that repeat the same point.
- Use motion to establish hierarchy. Reveal a panel, move between related states or enlarge a specific control. Keep the full interface available long enough to preserve orientation.
- Separate animation from functionality. If an action is not visible in the source, describe the intended workflow as an explanation rather than a recorded demonstration.
A production example
Three screenshots can explain a draft, review and approved state in a content product. A title can identify each stage and a connector can show their relationship. That communicates the workflow without fabricating footage of an approval button being clicked or content being published.
Limits and checks
The current Demovela capture and upload workflow is centred on video sources. A dedicated screenshot-to-video import is not promised. This guide also applies to a motion designer or editor building the composition from supplied stills.
Your next step
Choose screenshots that can be understood independently, then prepare a brief that states whether they come from a live product, prototype or illustrative design.
